At 26, Ana Carla Maza uses her cello to paint the frenzied luxury of her native Havana, the accents of Brazilian samba and the tragedies of Argentine tango.

Born in Cuba at the time Wim Wenders recorded Buena Vista Social Club, cellist and virtuoso singer Ana Carla Maza made her debut on stage at the age of 10 and has been developing internationally ever since.
Following the success of her solo album La Flor (2016), Ana is working on a new album based on quartet pieces as a tribute to the Bahia neighbourhood. Bahia is the place where the musician lived in her early childhood. Ana Carla comes from a family that is closely connected with music and travelling. Her grandfather left the Pinochet dictatorship and settled in France in the early 1980s. Music has always been present in Ana's life. One might almost think that the artist was born with a cello in her hands!
Ana Carla Maza creates a musical universe that combines jazz, classical music and the colours of Latin American sounds. Bahia is a place of honour for Cuban and Brazilian compositions, where rhythms such as tango and huayno unite a world of feeling and hope.
